In John 3:14-15 Jesus makes it clear to Nicodemus that the route to eternal life is through him. Nicodemus came to Jesus for a discussion about Jesus’ Messianic calling and he got a lesson on the Kingdom of God. Jesus made it clear to him that his mission was for more than just reestablishing the Israelite Kingdom, his was a mission of redemption that led people to eternal life, and the path to that eternal life went right through Jesus himself.
